The Full List of 100+ Truth or Dare Questions

Truth or Dare works on a simple bargain: on your turn, you either answer a question honestly or you perform a dare. There is no third option, and that is exactly why the game has survived every party trend since anyone can remember. The questions below are not a copy-paste list from the internet. Every single one was written for this site, tested against a simple rule: a good card makes the room lean in, not cringe. You will find truths that pry gently, truths that push, and dares that stay firmly in living-room territory.

The list is split into five themed blocks of roughly twenty cards each, and every card carries a level from 1 to 3. Level 1 is safe for literally anyone, including your grandmother. Level 2 is where the embarrassment starts to sting. Level 3 is for groups who have already survived levels one and two together. If you would rather play than scroll, the generator at the top of the site deals packs of ten from the same pool, in four modes and three levels, completely free.

Level 1

Classic Truth Questions to Break the Ice

Start here with any group. These truths ask about habits, small shames and secret preferences: enough to learn something, not enough to end a friendship. They are the cards that turn a quiet room into a talkative one in about ten minutes.

  • 1. What is the most childish thing you still do when nobody is watching?
  • 2. Which song would you be mortified to be caught singing in the car?
  • 3. What is your most useless talent?
  • 4. If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?
  • 5. What food do you pretend to like but secretly hate?
  • 6. What is the longest you have ever worn the same clothes without washing them?
  • 7. Which app on your phone do you open first every morning?
  • 8. What is the last thing you searched online that you would not want read out loud?
  • 9. Have you ever blamed a smell in the room on someone else when it was you?
  • 10. What nickname do you secretly hate being called?
  • 11. What purchase over $100 do you regret the most?
  • 12. Which movie or song makes you cry that you would never admit to in public?
  • 13. Have you ever pretended to know a song or a band you had never heard?
  • 14. What is the strangest thing you have eaten off the floor?
Level 2

Embarrassing Truth Questions That Make People Hesitate

Once the room is warm, level two truths go after the search history, the screenshots and the tiny lies everyone tells. Nobody gets hurt, but everybody sweats a little. This is the block that produces the stories people retell for months.

  • #1What is the pettiest reason you have ever stopped talking to someone?
  • #2Which friend here would survive the longest in a zombie apocalypse, and who would go first?
  • #3What is the biggest lie you have told to get out of a plan?
  • #4Who in this room would you trade lives with for a week, and why?
  • #5What is the most embarrassing thing in your search history right now?
  • #6Have you ever stalked someone's profile for more than an hour? Who was it?
  • #7What compliment do you fish for the most?
  • #8What is the weirdest thing you have done when you were home alone?
  • #9Which screenshot on your phone would be the worst one to accidentally share?
  • #10What is a talent or hobby you hide because you think people would judge you?
  • #11What rumor about you turned out to be kind of true?
  • #12What is the biggest secret you have kept from your parents?
  • #13What is something you pretend not to care about but actually obsess over?
  • #14If your phone gallery was projected on this wall right now, would you panic?
Level 3

Hard Truth Questions for Groups Who Go All In

These are the cards you unlock, not the ones you open with. They name names, dig into the group dynamic and ask players to be honest about the people sitting in the room. Played with the right crowd, they are unforgettable. Played too early, they are just uncomfortable. You know your friends.

  • #1If you had to delete one person from your life forever, who would it be?
  • #2What is the meanest thing you have ever said about someone in this room?
  • #3Who in this group would you least trust with a secret, and why?
  • #4What is the one thing you would change about everyone here?
  • #5Have you ever taken credit for something you did not do? What was it?
  • #6What is the most selfish thing you have done in the last year?
  • #7If you could read one person's messages right now, whose would they be?
  • #8What is an opinion you keep quiet because it would start a fight in this room?
  • #9What is the biggest lie you have told someone you love?
  • #10If you could erase one memory from your life, which one would it be?
Dares

Best Dares to Pair With the Truths

A truth question is only as strong as the dare waiting behind it. Every dare in the generator is doable in a living room in under two minutes, needs no props you do not already own, and contains zero alcohol and zero danger. Here are the first ten from the deck.

  • #1Speak in a whisper for the next three rounds, no matter what happens.
  • #2Do your best impression of another player until someone guesses who it is.
  • #3Balance an object on your head for the next two rounds.
  • #4Text the fifth person in your contacts list a single emoji. No explanation.
  • #5Say the alphabet backwards as far as you can in 20 seconds. Every miss adds five jumping jacks.
  • #6Let the group pick a new name for you for the rest of the game.
  • #7Do a dramatic movie-trailer voiceover of everything you do for the next two minutes.
  • #8Hold a plank while the group counts to thirty.
  • #9Sing the chorus of the last song you played out loud, with feeling.
  • #10Speak only in questions for the next three turns.

How to Choose the Right Question for Your Group

The mistake most people make with Truth or Dare is dealing their hardest card first. The game works on escalation. Open with level one and let the room laugh its way into trust, then move up a level every ten minutes or so. Watch who is answering fast and who is going quiet: a quiet player is telling you the level is already too high for tonight.

A second tip: alternate truths and dares instead of letting the group pick freely every turn. Forced alternation stops the confident players from always hiding behind dares and the shy players from always choosing truths. It keeps everyone doing both, which is where the comedy lives. And if someone genuinely refuses, the classic penalty applies: the group chooses a forfeit, they lose a point, or they skip a turn. Decide the penalty before the first card, never after.
